Book Description:
Fighting Snub Reilly and Other Stories is a 1934 hardcover anthology of sports and adventure short stories by the highly prolific British crime and thriller writer Edgar Wallace. Published by The World Syndicate Publishing Co. (Cleveland, Ohio – New York, N.Y.), this volume compiles some of Wallace’s popular, action-oriented narratives originally syndicated across newspapers and magazines.
The title story follows a small but fiercely independent prize-fighter defending his world championship title against a dangerous challenger. The original 1934 dust jacket features iconic vintage sports artwork by illustrator Buddy Clark. Because these cheap, mass-market editions were printed on high-acid paper stock for casual reading, the internal pages typically feature deep natural tanning or toning over time. (Note: That’s not the case with this book, the pages are very clean.)
Total Page Count:
The book contains exactly 190 pages of text.
The layout consists of an introductory contents table followed by the standalone printing plates of Wallace’s short stories. In some physical copies, the absolute physical leaf count may reach up to 196 pages if accounting for the publisher’s unnumbered blank endpapers or short promotional catalog advertisements tucked into the final binding signature.
